What we actually check

• Refrigerant charge, measured — the number one cause of mid-summer failures
• Condenser coil cleaned (cottonwood season buries them around here)
• Capacitor tested under load, before it fails
• Contactor inspected for pitting and burning
• Condensate drain cleared so it doesn't back up into your basement
• Electrical connections tightened, blower and filter checked
